Better Late Than Never

Yes, I must admit I have not been keeping up with my end of the blogging as much as I promised I would. Things have been pretty busy around here, but fun busy! As Court said in her last post, Drew and I had an absolutely beautiful announcement party two weekends past at Fort Hill in Vicksburg. Fort Hill is this gorgeous antebellum home in the Vicksburg Millitary park that overlooks the Mississippi River. The view is absolutely breathtaking! Seriously I felt like I was in Gone With The Wind ( before the war of course :) ). The party was hosted by several of Drew's parents' long-time family friends. They have all been so wonderful to Drew and me, and they were so sweet to host this beautiful party. A big group of my family from New Orleans and Atlanta came in for the party, so it was wonderful to visit with them. We always have such a great time when we get together. This weekend really made me see how lucky Drew and I are to have such great family and friends who are there to celebrate with us during this very exciting time! On Sunday, Court, Gretchen, Amber, Elizabeth and Mrs. Lyle hosted a wonderful kitchen shower for me. The shower was at Court's parents' house. Their house is so beautiful, and Court's mom has done an amazing job with decorating. Serioulsy it looks like it should be in a Southern Living Magaine. The girls did an amazing job with everything, and I was truly touched that they took so much time to make everything extra special. They had vases filled with hydrangeas (my absolute favorite flower), pictures of me and Drew on all the tables and a yummy yummy strawberry cake (you guessed it ...my favorite). The food was absolutely delicious. My friend Elizabeth is a great cook and really outdid herself. She made this delicious buffalo chicken dip that was so GOOD! I am so glad friends and family were able to make the shower. I hope everyone had a great time. Now I just need to get to practicing my cooking skills!!

big weekend

It was a big weekend around here! Kristin & Drew had a fabulous engagement celebration Saturday night in Vicksburg at a beautiful house in the park. Kristin looked so pretty, and Drew's tie was so freaking cute. It was great to see all the family, and I think Kristin had a good time. I hate that I missed the sunset over the river (the party started @ 7 in Vicksburg, but I was running WAY late & didn't leave Brandon until 7:05). What I did enjoy was using my Mom's new Garmin to make it to the house. Of course I knew how to get to Vicksburg, but I had absolutely no idea where this house was. It worked perfectly, and now I want one!
We also had a kitchen shower for Kristin on Sunday afternoon. I hope Kristin enjoyed herself, and it seems like she got some great gifts. I'm glad a good group of her family was able to come (and also her friends). Everybody loves Kristin! You can see the table full of gifts in the back behind her and also just the gifts from her aunts around her feet. Lucky girl.
The shower was given by Kristin's sister, sister-in-law, a high-school friend, me, and my mom. I really am so lucky that my mom was willing to have the shower at her house. This is the second time we've hosted a shower there for one of my friends. It really is perfect for entertaining. Mom never complains about anything, and is a great hostess. I know we all can complain about our moms every now and then, but she really is an amazing mother- and I love & appreciate her so much! Speaking of- I'm trying to convince my mom to join the gym with me. She might be going with me this afternoon. We'll see!
Work called me this morning to see if I could come & work today and tomorrow. Since I have yet to go to sleep before 4 a.m. & will be working nights starting Wednesday, I had to decline. The money definitely would have been nice, but I just knew I couldn't do it. I'm off to do some laundry, clean up a little, and then go to The Club. Hopefully Kristin will let you know her take on the weekend (hint-hint).

no spring break??

Well... I just finished "six on." I'm working a really strange schedule so that I can be around for Kristin's wedding festivities. Working nights has been great so far. I'll be working 7p-7a at least until the first weekend in April... hopefully longer. I do dislike the 11a-11p so much!
On a sad note- I'm missing spring break 2008. This is my first year to not have spring break. It totally sucks not being a student- especially when a group of my friends are down at Ono. Last year a big group of nursing school friends (& some others) went to stay @ Ono Island for a week. It was the best trip ever... completely relaxed at a time when I was very very stressed with finishing up school and finding a job. That same group has gone back again. Somehow most of them were able to get a week off. I hope they are having a good time- but I am so, so jealous!!
Right now I should be at The Club instead of blogging. Yesterday- I got off at 3 a.m. and went to work out @ 5 a.m. I could not believe the parking lot. It was the busiest I had ever seen it. I had no idea people got up that early. My excuse for not going this morning?- I plan on going this afternoon after I get some sleep AND Kristin (surprise) hasn't blogged at all. She is so disappointing. I do realize that no one besides the two of us really know about the blog at the moment... HOWEVER, @ some point, I just know people will click on our site numerous times throughout the day to check for updates. Right?
The St. Paddy's Day parade is this weekend. I hear it might rain. I won't be out there... but last year was lots of fun. Kristin & Drew have their engagement party Saturday night in Vicksburg. I'm looking forward to it, and I hope they are too. The only thing I'm not excited about?... finding something to wear. I've been looking since January for party/wedding/etc. dress and have yet to find anything. Which means- I probably won't be able to find anything in the next two days. We're also having a bridal shower for Krissy-boo Sunday at my mom's house. Hopefully all of that will come together. Most of all- I hope she gets some great gifts. The little mooch doesn't have a single pot or pan for the kitchen right now. Have I mentioned how gorgeous their new house is?? Love it!

Tonight- we're having a going away party for one of the nurses at work. It's at another nurse's house out in Brandon. Jonathan is leaving the University PED for a PED in Connecticut. Which brings me to another subject- I'm seriously still considering travel nursing after this summer. If I can get things together with the house (such as a roommate and such)- I would LOVE to take an assignment for a few months. I would actually love to go somewhere like Portland, Oregon. Okay- to be REALLY honest, I've already received magazines in the mail about the area. I'm obsessed. I just have to take the initiative to do it all. It's scary & exciting all at once.

alright- it's time for me to get some sleep. Kristin- this is a threat. blog. NOW.

2 days down

Just finished a couple of days at work... not terrible days. I've got bunches of errands to take care of in the next couple of days. That means (sadly), I can't hibernate until I have to go back to work. So sad. I love not having responsibility. It goes well with my sleep needs!

Thank goodness the storm that came through yesterday was not what they had expected. We had a couple of MVC's roll in, but I don't think any were really due to the weather. Mainly the bad weather made it impossible for AirCare to fly critical patients, and ambulance services had problems driving through the storms with those critical patients. I have no idea what it would be like to be in the back of a truck with an intubated patient. Scary stuff.

Speaking of weather, poor Kristin had to put up with my cray-cray dog. She was sweet to let the little mutt inside. I swear- I've become that pet owner that doesn't know what to do with her out-of-control pet. Lucy is loud, obnoxious, and a pain in the butt. But, I love her to death.

Most of the paperwork has gone through on the house. So, sometime next week, I should be closing on my house. This is good. I'm ready for the responsibility. I just really need to find a new roommate.

Which leads me to a sad topic. With the wedding just two months away, Krissy-boo is ready to leave me. She's got that beautiful new house to go to after the wedding, and I'm so excited for her! It's been so great having her here though, and I'm going to miss her tons. She's been the best roommate ever. I've always heard that living with your best friend is never a good idea. I think we beat the odds, dear. Love her!

Only 2 Months To Go

So it hit me today. I was looking at my calendar and realized that we have exactly two months to go before the wedding. Up until now, I feel like I've been pretty calm and laid back about things (okay, okay Drew and Court may not agree). But seriously though, I feel like I've gotten things done and felt like there was plenty of time to take care of the rest. I really haven't had any bridezilla moments, at least not that I'm aware of :).Now I must admit, I'm freaking out just a little bit. I mean there is still lots to do and to be quite honest I'm not really sure I'm going to be able to get it all done. I mean the logical part of me knows that eveything will be okay if the bows don't get tied on the programs or I can't find the perfect candles to go on the guest tables. I know that in the end, come May 3rd, Drew and I will be married and isn't that really the most important thing when you get down to it? Of course it is. But I can't help having that girly-girl feeling that this is my wedding day and I want everyting to be perfect. I've told mysellf that I'm going to get a ton of stuff done this week. Seriously, all of those little things that I've been putting off, I'm finally going to check off on my to-do-list. We'll see how it goes.
